ColorINdia
ColorINdia is an activity kit for children that explains the role of color in food, festivals, dance, art, and craft through the use of visual cards. Awarded the certificate of commendation in recognition of outstanding performance on this project and for achieving overall excellence.
My design process consisted of conducting surveys and user interviews, competitive and comparative research to study existing products in the education industry, sketching and ideating creative concepts, testing prototypes with children, parents, and teachers, iterating concepts based on user feedback and finally exhibiting my project.
During the initial research phase, I spent time studying each color and its significance in Indian culture.
My target audience included elementary school children, their parents, and teachers. Involving them early on in my design process and keeping them engaged all throughout the process was instrumental. I spent a lot of time understanding my users and planning activity sessions with them.
I distributed a survey among parents and teachers who work with elementary school children to get their input on learning, color symbolism and its relevance for this age group of children.
Once I received input from parents and teachers, I conducted an activity with children to understand the types of associations they make with each color.
